you know I always hated this genre of lead guitar focused music, but I appreciate the talent. Yngvie is the best of the bunch. Satriani can go to hell though. I just cant do it.

The thing I like about the genre is that it's a gold mine for bass lines and drum fills. I am at a point of ignoring the guitar completely and focusing on the backbone

While Yngvie is probably one of the faster players of the bunch, my god.. Unless he was shredding, I fell asleep or turned it off.
And his albums? They were like bad porn. Fast forward to the guitar solo, and bypass all that boring shit that he had to include in order to get the record out. I can't even remember any of the songs. He was like he Veyron. Good at only one thing, and bored most enthusiasts older than 15.
And his attitude and ego? Hilarious.
I saw Yngvie once in the late 90s in a small club in my area. Five guys, one spotlight. The rest of the band performed in the dark while his overweight, royal highness spun around in his satin pirate shirt throwing picks into the crowd.
I used to sign my own guitar picks and throw them out during our shows as a joke. I had remembered to take a bunch with me that night, and was close enough to throw them at him. Hit him at least five times.
He was an incredible player though.
Now about Joe? I don't remember him doing that much squawking and weird noises. Are you thinking about Vai?

Haha I love to heckle those with big egos. One time I got Tommy Stinson real good after he hit on my wife all night at a show and kept bumming smokes off us. There were MAYBE 10 people in the club. I asked him politely to cover Bastards of Young for me, since it was one of my favorite Replacements songs. Instead of saying "you know I dont want to" or "I cannot because of a record contract" he told me to go fuck myself. I being as drunk as I could get a little later decided I was going to start throwing shit at him. Clothing, beer. Surprised I didnt get kicked out. Fuck a big ego in music.
